Martinez-Evans Baseball & Softball

March 23, 2019 marked another Opening Day for Martinez-Evans Little League.  We are excited this year to welcome special guests not only for our Baseball Division's First Pitch, but also our all new Softball division.
We were honored to have a former Martinez-Evans Little League All-Star from 1962.  Today we all know him as U.S. Congressman Rick Allen.  Shown here on the back row, top right of this photo, "Ricky" Allen as his Evans Lions teammates called him in that day stood tall.

Our Softball First Pitch was thrown by Mrs. Traci Davis.

Traci Davis’ honors on the diamond include a four-year all-league selection and the 2000 South Atlantic Conference Player as well as Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  In 2000, Davis also earned NCAA Division II All-South Region accolades and led Lenoir-Rhyne University to its first-ever league regular season and tournament championships.  Davis is still L-R’s all-time career leader in stolen bases (131) and batting average (.418).  An outstanding student as well, Davis was a four-time Academic All-District honoree and a two-time GTE Academic All-American (1999-00).  In 2006, Davis was inducted into the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame.   We are very thankful that Traci and her husband, whom most of you know as “Coach Will” - also a former collegiate baseball player with honors in his own right, volunteer so much of their time and expertise to make our league and our players better.
