Softball Divisions
Rookie (Machine Pitch) Girls Softball (Age 6-8) [RLSB]
Rookie (Machine Pitch) Girls Softball is a pitching machine league, with machines set to approximately 25mph, and intended for players 6-8 years old. This pitching machine format has proven to develop all players' defensive skills and provide more enjoyment versus a player pitch format at this age and skill level.
All players in attendance will be placed in a defensive position with a standard infield and the remaining girls spread out in the outfield. Continuous batting order is used so all players on the roster will bat and 5 pitches are thrown from the machine while three swinging strikes will end the at-bat.
*Some 5 year old's may play in this division if it is deemed better for player development after evaluations.*
Minors Girls Softball (Age 8-10) [MISB]
Minors Girls Softball is for players ages 8-10 years old. This division features a “player pitch” / "coach pitch option after ball 4" hybrid approach to development and ensures quality play.
There is no minimum or maximum composition for rosters, but most leagues have rosters in the 8-12 range. Competitive divisions of Minors Girls Softball may only use nine players on defense. The diamond uses 60-foot base paths and a 35-foot pitching distance. Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved as managers, coaches, and volunteer in a variety of other capacities.
Majors Girls Softball (Age 10-12) [MLSB]
Majors Girls Softball is for players ages 11-12 years old. The field uses 60-foot base paths and a 40-foot pitching distance. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or “All Stars”) of 10 to 12 year old's from within the division, and the team may enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Girls Little League Softball World Series, featuring teams from around the world. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals, and housing) are paid by Little League International. Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved as managers, coaches, and volunteer in a variety of other capacities.
Juniors Girls Softball (Age 12-14) [JLSB]
Juniors Girls Softball is for players ages 13-14 years old and uses conventional 60-foot base paths and a 43-foot pitching distance. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or “All Stars”) of 13 to 14 year old's from within this division, and the team may enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Junior League Softball World Series, featuring teams from around the world.
