The Story Behind the Scholarship
This year, one of our very own players, DJ Simpkins from the MiLB Marlins,
raised $575 through his project,
DJ’s All-Star Lemonade Stand,
with the goal of helping more children experience the joy of playing baseball.
DJ’s generosity didn't end there—an additional community donation of
$100 brought the total to $675, allowing us to
offer six full scholarships for the Spring 2026 season.

The MELL Board is incredibly grateful to DJ and his family for their generosity,
and proud of the example he is setting for our league.
Spring 2026 Scholarship Details
Thanks to DJ’s hard work and the generosity of our community,
we are offering six (6) full scholarships to cover the cost of
registration for the Spring 2026 Martinez-Evans Little League season.
How Scholarships Are Awarded
- First-come, first-serve until all 6 scholarships have been awarded.
- Applications must be submitted with valid eligibility documentation.
- The deadline to apply is February 1, 2026 or when funds run out.
Eligibility Requirements
Families must provide one of the following documents showing:
- The child’s name, and
- A date within the last 12 months (or a future expiration date):
- SNAP enrollment documentation
- WIC enrollment documentation
- Medicaid enrollment documentation
Applications missing dates or the child’s name will be automatically declined.
